I have an object which is hooked up to interface builder (one of the little blue boxes down the left hand side (Xcode 4.5.2) and I have created bindings to an NSText Field as I am used to doing.I have also synthesised the text field in the main file (don't quite understand why but pretty sure this is necessary). Basically, I had connected up the interface builder to the object exactly fine and it would of worked but because of the nature of my programme, I was initialising a new object to control the interface not realising that by doing that it would not have access to the interface.I’m starting a new series here: small Cocoa code examples.

You have an outlet defined, but it's not sure that it's actually connected.

The code I am using to try to populate the text field is: the set string method is the only method that looks like it should set the value of the box.

The program runs with no errors and when I click on the button, no error's are thrown.

This can be done on the command line as follows: This provides more information that can aid you in tracking down which item in Interface Builder has been bound to the wrong key path.

In this case it indicates that the binding is between an NSText Field and an NSArray Controller with an object class of Member, using the key path.
